Wendy Plesniak MIT Media Laboratory Spatial Imaging Group Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139 Abstract. We describe the incremental computing method for making localized changes to a computer-generated hologram to rapidly modify the 3-D image it reconstructs. The method populates a scene with holographic primitives, tracks scene-based changes, and updates the diffractive contributions of only affected primitives. Changes are rapidly incorporated into the hologram via simple arithmetic operations, and only affected regions of the hologram are updated at each simulation time step. The method can accommodate different holographic primitive representations, is designed to be suitable for hardware assistance, and is also compatible with computer-graphics-style techniques for smooth shading, texture mapping, and reflections. © 2003 Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers. Computer Generated Holograms from 3D Meshes using an Analytic Light Transport Model
1 We present a method to analytically compute the light distribution of triangles directly in frequency space. This allows for fast evaluation, shading and propagation of light from 3D mesh objects using angular spectrum methods. The algorithm complexity is only dependant on the hologram resolution and the polygon count of the 3D model. In contrast to other polygon based computer generated holo...
متن کاملReduction in the reconstruction error of computer-generated holograms by photorefractive volume holography.
We suggest a method for coding high-resolution computer-generated volume holograms. It involves splitting the computer-generated hologram into multiple holograms, their individual recording as volume holograms by use of the maximal resolution available from the spatial light modulator, and subsequent simultaneous reconstruction. We demonstrate the recording and the reconstruction of a computer-...
متن کاملFiltering Effect in Holographic Image Processing
The most popular application of holography is using the technique to make three-dimensional images. This paper describes an algorithm for computationally generating holograms along with methods to fabricate the hologram. The phrase, “digital holography", is common place in the optics community; it describes the methods used to reconstruct holographic images from physically recorded holograms as...

Our method enables their simultaneous subsequent reconstruction. We demonstrate the recording and the reconst...
